Purpose Our purpose was to investigate the interplay between runners and their environment using a network approach. Methods This cross-sectional study sampled Brazilian of both sexes, from five macro-regions country. An electronic questionnaire used obtain information regarding age, sex, training volume, socio-economic level, place residence, running pace. Environmental indicators (public illumination, pavement, sidewalk, green areas) were collected available public information. Descriptive statistics presented in mean (SD), frequency (%). A analysis performed evaluate association individual environmental characteristics. Statistical analyses JASP, considering p < 0.05. Results At North Mid-West regions, illumination presents highest values for expected influence (1.74 1.56), while Northeast Southeast, sidewalks present (2.13; 0.91). For betweenness centrality, North, Northeast, residency capital state hub. In contrast, volume higher South Southeast. Network topologies are different. Conclusion Public (North Mid-West) sidewalk (Northeast, Southeast) most important variables runners. Continental size countries need specific approaches improve physical activity levels health outcomes that consider cultural, historical, background.
